Guest Speakers- Design Bridge & Mike Kennedy

On Wednesday we were privileged enough to experience two guest speakers the first one was by Design Bridge in which they gave an in-depth talked into the brand and who they have worked for. It was founded in 1986 in which they have now expanded across the world with design agencies in Shanghai and they have lots of other offices across the world. They spoke about a few companies they were lucky enough to work with such as

Holsten Brewery (Beer) in which they helped create the design and a short film/advert of the brand.

Callaly (Echo Period Products) in which they created bright, fun packaging.

Cadbury ( Helped collaborate on a campaign/ packaging).

Durex (Created packaging and added icon systems- with bright fun colours).

Fortnum & Mason- Chocolate brand- For a younger audience with patterns on the side of packaging with dark edgy colours and traditional gold.

They have also worked with many many more brands but these were just some of the brands they’ve worked/collaborated with that I found really interesting to here about during the talk.

The second guest speaker was Mike Kennedy Illustration who creates different styles of illustration work for different brands/people. This talk was really interesting to hear and see his different work he’s created over the past few years. He also spoke about the platforms he uses to show his work off and he spoke about how Tumblr was a good art community back in 2011 but now Instagram is a popular platform to share work and pictures.

He spoke more about the process of his work and how his illustrations have been pitched to comic book companies as his style of work fits in perfectly with this.

I also found this talk interesting as he was able to show us his work and give advice on how to share your own work and the best platforms he uses to do this.
