Defeating Procrastination
The fourth Graduate + session I joined was about defeating procrastination. The start of the presentation explained that procrastination isn't about ‘doing nothing’. Procrastination is about choosing to do stuff to avoid doing other stuff. Sometimes that choice is conscious — sometimes not.
We learn about different types of procrastination:
- Thinking about thinking-Input-Emotional or Rational
- Helpful or Hindering-Others-Self-Situations
- Behaviour Grooves & self fulfilling prophesies
In the talk it was mentioned about creating a new way of thinking such as ‘we will be the same person tomorrow who is putting off making a change tomorrow’.
The main question was:
“ How do we defeat procrastination”
- Create opportunity
- Create a to-do-list
- Set yourself time-bound goals
This session was really helpful to gain motivation and learn how to defeat procrastination when it comes to getting things done. I’m going to use some of the tips that were mentioned in the session to help me in the future.
